Your Physician Anesthesiologist
Our physician anesthesiologists are doctors of medicine who have graduated from college with a strong understanding of biochemistry, physics, and mathematics. After college, anesthesiologists complete four years of medical school training to obtain their medical doctorate degree. Anesthesiologists then complete four years of post medical school training, consisting of one intern year and three years in an accredited anesthesiology residency program.
The intern year helps develop a basic understanding of clinical medicine, with an introduction to other areas in medicine such as critical care, pediatrics, surgery, OB/GYN, and neurology.
Anesthesiologists continue on to their three year residency program, learning all aspects of the specialty coupled with direct patient care. It is during this time that anesthesiologists develop the important understanding of human physiology and pharmacology, along with the technical skills necessary to successfully develop and complete anesthetic plans for various patient populations.
As the specialty of Anesthesiology grows in importance and desirability, there has been a dramatic increase in the quality of candidates who pursue a career in our specialty. NYNJA physicians have all demonstrated superior clinical skills in respect to their peers. Many are leaders in the community and have served on important committees in the healthcare landscape. Our group was formed to deliver a higher level of care to our patients and physician clients, with a focus on personal attention and dedication that NYNJA prides itself on.
The American Society of Anesthesiologists provides the following brochure to explain the role of your physician anesthesiologist. Please contact us if you have any further questions.
